1861 Old Himalayan Tibetan Necklace - Deer motif batik Age unknown but estimated toExquisitely crafted bead necklace with deer motifs Deer are considered auspicious in the Tibetan culture and free roaming deer were seen in the grounds surrounding the Potala palace (personal experience, 2007) Such intricate crafting is usually seen in only important ritual objects. The beads are heavy and possibly made of copper inners and gilted with gold Angled so that it sits perfectly on the neck. Consists of 9 bits strung on a black thread.
